Wow, happy Birthday! I hope that I can make it to 84 and beyond.
Think that I see Bob and Kris LaPoint in some of the clips. I've never
    seen that video before.

Back in February 1974, when we went to Horton Lake to do ski testing, I
worked with Jack to change his foot-dimensioned course to Metric. From
855 feet overall to 259 meters.

Jack is credited with creating the first private ski lake back in 1968, in the
    California desert.

I can watch that video all day. Happy Birthday Jack!

@SkiJay I think the bearded fellow has been identified as Bob LaPoint.

Happy B-day Mr. Horton.....that video is awesome. Those slalom guys were getting it done!! I couldn't imagine having to hand drive those guys, especially with an outboard.

Red helmet beard guy is most definitely BLP. KLP with the blond hair, headband, and Hexcel ski.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing this; when I see this stuff it re affirms why I love this sport. Especially when someone puts their own time & $ into the sport to help it grow. Props to your Dad and you. Thanks,

My first jump set ever at Suyderhoud's in 1976 - no helmet, NO JUMP PANTS. Just a pair of Hang Ten trunks, vest, and gloves. After two days of successful ride-overs Mike had me do a 3/4 cut. When he waved, I went. Amazingly I stayed over my skis and landed upright. Completely tore the crotch out of my trunks. I was so stoked I didn't care what that felt like. It was, needless to say, "a different time".

I can't decide if I'm more surprised by how much jumping has changed, or by how little slalom skiing has.

Ol' Jack Horton is such an icon of the sport. I hope he stays along long enough
so that Willard Scott will recognize him.

I remember the days of no helmet jumping, I was not as proficient as binding side up as horton
Mr. Mom is Horton's favorite movie!
