@Ryota thanks, how far would that be from Yokosuka? We will be moving there next May and I would definitely be interested in skiing with your friends if possible.

@MillerTime38 It's About an hour and half by train.
They are skiing in the river so probably not the best skiing condition you may think but it's the closest place that you can ski slalom course.
Ok I'll tell them about you!

@Ryota I have arrived in Japan and itching to get wet. Are your friends skiing on the Edo River still. I am waiting on my ski gear to arrive but would like to start talking with people about possible ski rides.

Hey Brad, good to hear you’ve arrived in Japan safe and sound! You dropped off the radar screen this spring and we didn’t know what was up. Give our best to Jess and the kids and enjoy your stay in Japan. Hope you get lots of ski time in!

Big thanks to @Ryota for all the help finding a place to ski in Japan. Japan is a beautiful country and having a place to ski makes it that much sweeter living here

I spent a lot of time in Yokosuka back in the 80's. There are a few places to ski over there but the best in my opinion is https://www.flickr.com/photos/smaku/34904482736 Lake Kawaguchi. Last time I was there was 2008 and they still had the jump. Skiing will be icing on the cake you are going to love Japan! Go Navy!

I love Japan. It's such a cool mix of completely bonkers tech, culture, and food with natural beauty, an appreciation for nature, serenity, etc. I've been there probably a dozen or so times but I still don't think I'll ever "get" it.

Careful now. Eat too many of those and you'll come home looking like a sumo wrestler.
