I'm about to nose-dive in rankings, only one tourney so far this year so will be penalized. It's all good, though. Have had a lot of fun and set two practice PB's this year. The BOS community continues to help me improve.

I am tied at #129 in slalom. When I started last year I was #265. I hope to make it to nationals before I move out of Men 4. I have one more year in Men 3. I am level 7 in slalom, and level 6 in tricks, but closing in on level 7. My ranking in slalom will drop once some my scores expire. I had a bad couple of rounds in slalom over Labor Day weekend.

So is there any easy conversion out there. Such as; if you score a 95/100/105 what did you run?

@toddf, the score listed would also be the average of the skier's 3 best scores at tournaments. If less than 3 tourneys are skied, then a penalty is applied.

@ToddF- The buoy count is speed dependent. As Scot said, 4 @ 38 is 100 AT 34MPH. 4 at 35 = 100 at 36 mph. 4 @ 39 = 100 at 32 mph. The buoy count drops by 6 at each reduction in speed. Here is a link to the buoy count chart.

@Marco, That chart is perfect. Thanks for that link.
@6balls, so if you did one three round tounament that would technically be enough to get a ranking?
  • MarcoMarco Posts: 1,362 Crazy Baller
@ToddF- Only your best score for a single tournament counts toward your average. You would still have a ranking based on that score, but it would included a 10% penalty if it was a C class tourney, 5% if you had 2 tournaments.

Here is a link to the rankings page. Even though mutiple scores from each tourney show up, only the top score is calculated in your average.

@SkiKolb I did almost exactly that last calendar year. This year I fell back to almost where I had been, thanks to total lack of mental toughness in tournaments (except maybe at Regionals).

But I hope to cilmb the ranks again next season, when I'll be doing a few more tournaments. Practice scores were at least +1 on average this year, so that will translate to tournament scores eventually.

Just found out two more tourneys coming my way...that will be 3 so soon I'm penalty free : )
Now to put up some decent scores. Last yr avg 99.83. This year one tourney only and skied 99 even. Would love a couple 101's or better to be at least 100 avg. I am a better skier this year than last, just need to show it when it counts. 38's feeling better again so need to peak.

Do tournaments after nationals count toward your 2012 average or your 2013?
  • klindyklindy Posts: 1,912 Mega Baller
2013....everything from the Nationals forward count as 2013. The way the rankings work in terms of how they use your past scores is they look back one year. So one year from the beginning of the Nationals would be the beginning of the previous years nationals. If you look at the drop down box you can sort the rankings by "ski year" (from last nationals forward) or "last year's scores" (52 weeks prior scores).

@SkiKolb I'd watch out for Jason Anderson making the move from M2 to M3 this year. He's gained more than one loop on the rope already since going to 34 MPH and the purple doesn't stand a chance next year.
