    That is a classic!!!! How far down the rope could you run with that handle set up? My dad used to take up his excessive slack with the split handle in the 70's.

    I believe taking up slack was the reason they were made. That would go well with my mint condition Cyprus Gardens yellow ski belt and my wood CG Ski Skat.

    My godmother, who was an avid but fairly casual skier, always used a double-handled rope for a perhaps-surprising reason:

    Her arms weren't the same length.

    As a child, she had broken a bone but never gotten it set properly (she lived deep in rural South Dakota at the time), and so one of her arms was about an inch shorter than the other. Nothing you'd notice just looking at her, but the single handle was never comfortable for her.

    She ran the slalom course at 28 mph quite a lot with that double handled rope!
