Very cool. Always been a super hero to me. Interesting how great hero's like Bob seem to quietly lead their lives and then reemerge in a spectacular way with another great impact on the sport and us all. After all the skis I tried and flipped or returned I'm glad to say I'm back on an A1. Learned on a Mach 1 and a Turbo. Never liked H.O. after that. Just me being a rotten skier is all and not staying with the sport, really not their product in reality. Got hurt on a Phantom and destroyed my ankle. Blamed the ski and the too small Animal boot. 5 years later Bob Lapoint's new design with his name on it motivated me to try an A1 last summer. Should of just stayed with it and worked on my skiing and got a coach. I like the customer service of H.O. a lot. They are truly concerned with delivering a first rate experience.

Does anyone have a photograph of the same point in the course as this from about 1988? I would bet that the form is the same. This is the definition of an iconic photo. The same one O'niel used on its wet suits.

Both photos are very cool.  I would guess the second one is at shorter line.  Great technique.

That is a little earlier than I had seen. Remember the ad for Lapoint O'Brien skis which had the fog rising off the lake. The caption was something like wake up and smell the coffee.

That is awesome! Galactic Leader, how about a Bob Lapoint interview?

I want to see Bob competing again, that guy was the man for many years.  Looks like he still has it.

I also like the idea of an interview.
