Waterski Coverage on TV

Ahh, i remember the good old days when three event skiing (as well as
wakeboarding and kneeboarding) were covered on tv--mainly ESPN and
ESPN2, but also Outdoor Life Network (now Versus), ABC, and others.
Sadly, it seems that most have discontinued their waterskiing coverage
and replaced it with such exciting hits as Poker and the Spelling Bee.
Seriously, what gives?

Now, we are just left with poor quality internet video that cant be saved. Sigh.

In any case, if anyone has any old recordings of these watersports on
tv, and would be willing to copy to VHS or DVD, or would like me to do
it for them, it would be most appreciated. Please let me know, so we
can relive the glory days of decent coverage of our sport...

I thought the tv coverage ended when Wayne Grimditch won the ABC "Superstars" competition in 1978 <img src="http://ballofspray.com/vanillaforum/js/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-laughing.gif" border="0" alt="Laughing" title="Laughing" />

TV coverage ended when the beer companies stopped sponsoring it.  We must not be drinking enough beer to keep their interest.

Why do we need skiing on TV when we can watch Bowling, Poker, log rolling or whale wars?
