Dude -- you need about 500 lbs of copper sulfate or a really big blower!

We call it carpet moss at our site. It makes nice green spray.

Dense weeds under that crap, too. Removed and cleared intake screen twice last night for each of us to ski once. He's not wearing a drysuit cuz it's cold! @TWB hard to spray through it...this crap grabs the ski...you know you hit something. Wonder why my hull is yellowing this year?

We DO have the place to ourselves and no wind can rough up that water! No backwash, either!

Looks like you need a haz-mat suit more than a dry suit

I bet that stuff eliminates backwash.
It's 100 degrees here right now, seeing someone in a drysuit almost gave me heatstroke.

I just want to know how it grew up and over the dock...

16 hours of daylight and cows peeing in the water can make that stuff grow fast.

Buy some Tilapia and that'll cut it back. At least that is what I have read...... They are supposed to eat filamentous algae even better than grass carp. Unless you aren't trying to cut it all back.

Wow..... we call ours a swamp, but compared to that, ours is a botanical hot springs resort.......

    BUT, I'd still ski it!

@mattp that's the boat lift cradle with it draped over the top. That's how it came up when we raised the boat after skiing...like a blanket over the cradle.

@6balls I grew up on a lake that got like that. The greener and more rotten the algae got the better! Somehow all the local Wallies didn't like the green or the rotting mold smell. We didn't care and got the whole lake to ourselves. With three courses we always had calm water. Washing pea green undies took a little bleach though! Luckily we never got allergies or sick from it.
    Stir vigorously then leave!

@thager this explains so much. "....never got.. sick..." Was that sarcasm?

That is nasty but better than not skiing. Is it drysuits all year to keep the water out?

@chef23 it's never been this bad before. Historically weedy in the spring, then dies back and good to go the rest of the season in slow water due to muddy bottom. Crazy algae this year.

The dry suit is to keep the amoebas out.

I think I'd be wearing a full body condom (if such a thing existed). That stuff can't be good for you, nor any of the other life forms in that skanky water!

We went around the buoys like a skier...in the boat today to clear a path for the skier...then changed the intake screen and skied...then changed the intake screen and skied...by that time it was getting pretty decent! Great water conditions with some, uh, distractions.
