Hi Tadd

This binding looks very interesting -Did anyone ski with the HO binding (i.e. Seth)? I know it is difficult in the middle of the winter but I would be interested to read reviews.

    Can you heat-mold the liners?

How do you mount this binding on other skis than HO? Are there G10 plates available?

    Thanks

There have been very few of these actually released. Mainly to reps and a few others. We are still waiting on our first pair, we will get on them as soon as we can to test them out, etc. I know HO is going to make an adapter plate, and I am still waiting to see when that will be available. I know that it should fit any ski with an HO pattern, but I am waiting on a reply as to if it will fit Obrien/Radar pattern and D3/Connelly pattern.

As soon as i get a reply, I will post it.

    Unless someone else already knows?.?.

Also, as far as I know, yes you can heat mold the liners.

Basically, from what I have seen/heard of the boots, they have taken what has already been around in hardshells as a starting point, and made it a TON better, more user friendly, etc. In a nut shell, at least. When I can get my hands on a pair and use them I will really find out exactly how good they are.

    Thanks

So, what makes the EXO Form´s "less aggressive" than the Pro´s ?

From the pictures they look identical except from the color.

the Exo Pro's are stiffer than the Exo Forms and thus tranlate more energy between the ski and skier

You are also paying an extra $100 for the stiffer bindings

An extra $100, for what is probably a minor additional cost to manufacture, seems a little stiff - maybe that's what they mean...

I saw a set of the new EXO's at the Seattle Boat Show last night. They mount on a very narrow bar, and only release from the heel. I wasn't impressed by the silk screened DIN settings on the rear adjuster. The paint had already begun to wear off, and they haven't even been used yet. You are limited to an A, B, C, or D, without any definite adjustment marking in between, seems like a more permanent indexing system should have been incorporated into the design of the heel mount. As for fit and finish of the boots, they were very nicely built, but the little zipper cover for the lower laces seems unnecessary. Cory from HO said they's have some "demo days" scheduled this Spring, which is a good idea - I'd like to give them a try. Although, I'd have to borrow an A-1 with the proper inserts in order to attach the plate assembly. I'll be back at the Boat Show this next week and will shoot a quick video to post.

Also saw these at the Seattle show last night (EXO Forms), new versions of this set up are sure to come. I think the only way out of these is an OTF, especially the front foot, a little concerning. No front release as Richard stated. I do like the low rear cuff on this set but would feel the rear foot might come out before the front or a complete release of the plate from the ski. Set up looks nice and expectations are high, will be interesting to hear feedback once these hit the water but I think I'm waiting to try these until some data is back from those that have. I applaud HO for investing time & $$ in a trying to improve upon the hardshell/hybrid options, good things to come.

I was really surprised to find out that HO is building their own release. Don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing, but it definitely shows that HO wasn't messing around with the Exo. Like all, I'll be very interested in taking a close look. But personally, I'll need to see something just shy of magic to get off RS-1's.

I have some questions for those of You who have seen the EXO´s first hand.

What kind of material is the bar that the boots are attached to made of ?

Is it flexible enough that it would allow the front boot to bend it upwards to the extent that it would release from the heel piece in case of an OFT that puts the most pressure on the front ankle ?

Can You rotate or move the boots in relation to the centerline of the bar ?

Maybe an HO rep could chime in and elaborate a little regarding release properties and stuff ?

I do think the cover for the laces is a good idea, it would make the water spray that hits primarily the rear boot to slip by more easily.

I noticed while playing around with different boot setups (rubber, Diablos, RS-1s, Approach) that if the boots are slimmer the ski moves alot easier through the water in the beginning of the pull. That is really noticeable if I overturn or get in trouble in the finish of the turn and need a big pull to get back in the game.Wide rear boots like the Approaches or D3 Leverage can add some drag in some situations.

Hey guys, Corey M from HO Sports. Just wanted to pass on a little info. The boots that are making their way to some of the boat shows around the nation are just a sneak peak of the boots. When we officailly release the boot you will see podcasts, offical product information and see the final product. We havent announced that day yet but it is in the near future. Thanks for the interest in the boots and keep an eye out at your local boat show, we might be there giving more sneak peaks. Later.

Corey - what's the chance of getting a set to demo ? - I'd like to give them a rip! I'm sure Wiley's could be in the middle of the deal, since he has an account with HO.

Richard, thanks for posting the great video. All your videos rock. I am interested to see how these boots work out. Not sure about the low rear cuff, but I hear that is to allow your rear leg to get up behind your knee easier.
