BindingSideUp? – The easy way to shop for pre-owned ski gear & boats

BindingSideUpBindingSideUp Posts: 22 Baller
edited January 2017 in Stuff For Sale is waterskiing’s new classified ads web site and is now officially open for business.

Please come look around. We believe you will find the search tools and posting tools easy and intuitive.

To help get things going, we are giving away a Wakeye to 1 of the first 50 users to register and post an ad.

And it is free.

    Mr. @Dirt
As can be expected with a new site, we discovered issues as soon as we launched. If you are having trouble seeing the site please try using Google Chrome.

    Corrections will be made asap.

What the hell is this. My skis are listed for sale at $5555.00. The only place to buy DBskis is from myself and certainly not for $5555.00!

@dbski I saw that and was like whoa they sure went up in price since I bought one and then noticed it said sample user fake ad.

@dbskis sorry to freak you out. We used google to find random ski images to make sample ads. @skier2788 is correct that the user name on those ads is "sample user fake ad". On the other hand, $5,555.00 seems like a fair price for a beautiful handmade wooden decorative ski.

Mr @Dirt please look again. We think we have solved the tech issue we had earlier today. If anyone else sees anything wrong please let us know.

The site is back off line pending some tweaks.

I tried to create an account yesterday on an iPhone, but i finished and it went back to the login page. I tried to login with the account I had just created and it gave me a "you entered an invalid account" type message. Just to check, I tried the "forgot password", in case I fat fingered. Gave me an "invalid email address" message.

We thought the site was 100% ready to go on Sunday. We were wrong. The developers have done a lot of work since and we think the bugs have been corrected.

We would very much appreciate it if some of the ballofspray readers would again visit the site, create accounts, and post ads. If you have any issues please email them to [email protected]

The offer to giving away a Wakeye to 1 of the first 50 users to register and post an ad still stands.

@Than_Bogan the answer to your question is a bit ironic at this time. We feel we have better technology. The search functionality is intuitive, the look and feel of the site is modern and everything is encrypted. It may take some time to find the rest of the bugs in the site but we feel like we have a very competitive product. As for Ski-It-Again we have nothing but admiration.

    @aupatking please try again

I was able to set up an account on iPhone and posted an ad. I could not see the letters I was typing in the user setup fields, but they did go through. I could only see the top of the letters in the item title, which may be the same issue.
I could not create the user or even sign in from an iPad.
I am only assuming you want this feedback.

Edit, I was able to sign in on the iPad. Same issue. You just can't see what you are typing

Navigated around using IE and had no issues. Haven't tried my Ipad but it's just a toy - not a computer. Love the search function. Great work!

Seemed to work fine on my MacBook using Safari too. Great boat prices!

@aupatking Thanks for the feed back. The to-do list is growing.

Hopefully everyone finds the site very easy from the desktop.

I just listed my Jumpers, the ad created quickly and easily, nice website, but @BindingSideUp only the primary picture shows up in the ad ?

@RichardDoane thanks for trying out the site. The issue about the missing images has already been sent to the dev team.
  • BindingSideUpBindingSideUp Posts: 22 Baller
@aupatking would you be kind enough to surf the site more from your iPhone or other iDevice? We think we solved the issue that you reported. You should be able to log in much easier now.

Any and all feed back is appreciated.

Just looked and thought, maybe I'm missing something but it would be nice if on the thumbnail for each ad it said where the item was located. At least to the level of State/Province.
  • BindingSideUpBindingSideUp Posts: 22 Baller
I can see the need. That field was removed from the core display information because it also included email and phone number. (We did not write this database from scratch)
Now location is a field within the ad. See the bottom of this test ad

Looked at the link immediately above and the page loaded just fine. But when I clicked on the "Home" button at the top that page, the homepage came up blank (completely white). Same thing even after I refreshed the page. I am on a laptop. This is the address:

@Edmund I am unable to replicate your issue. What operating system and browser are you using?

Can you send me a screenshot? [email protected]
  • EdmundEdmund Posts: 186 Baller
@BindingSideUp I just sent the info to you.

Thanks to everyone who has posted on so far. We keep working to improve the site and think we have most of the bugs worked out.

@Edmund we are still unable to replicate your issue. We are still thinking about it.

@BindingSideUp , no issues to report. iPad and iPhone are looking good. Good job!

Quick smoke test went well from the seller side. Attempted to contact the seller (myself) didn't work. I never got an email. I was probably still logged in as the same user but it prompted for another email so I expected it to work.
  • BindingSideUpBindingSideUp Posts: 22 Baller
@Obrienslalom It would be pretty embarrassing if the email system on the site was broken. Try again in the morning and it should be as if nothing ever went wrong :-)

There is a reason why BindingSideUp is being launched in a Members Only section of BallOfSpray. Not saying you guys are beta testers but maybe that is partly true.

Mmm, that's the definition of beta testing.
