Does the SN 200 need the engine seal?

BlueSkiBlueSki Posts: 840 Mega Baller
I know others have experienced the seal between the top and bottom the SN 200 engine box falling off. Have you tried to glue it back on or did you just rip it off to be done with it? I’m not sure the seal is necessary.

Rip it off, no difference in motor noise

    I keep crazy glueing it.
Every year I get a few more inches coming undone

I pulled mine off. It's not any louder. Not sure why it's needed.

A product like Seam grip (similar to aquaseal) should work well. I use it for my dry suit & wet suit repair

Also the 3M #77 spray glue for car interiors works well. Just need to tape off for over spray

Shoe Goo works very well. I cleaned the surfaces with alcohol. Applied the Shoe Goo in small increments and then taped them to hold in place while the cement cured. Did this 4 years ago and it still is rock solid.
