‘89 Ski Brendella stiff steering

Hey guys- just picked up an ‘89 Ski Brendella. She runs like a top but has super stiff steering. I am not a boat veteran and don’t know much but I’m learning. I disconnected the rudder steering cable from the rudder and the rudder moves freely but steering is still super tight. Is there any way to grease/lube the cable or should I just look at replacing it? Looking to ball on a budget for this restoration project but I get sometimes forking out cash for new parts is worth avoiding the headache. Thanks in advance for helping a newb out. Stoked to be part of the small brendella crew!

Great steering on a boat is essential...time for a new steering cable.

Replacing steering cable is a regular maintenance item. No way to lubricate. Discount inboard marine is an excellent source for parts. www.skidim.com
