USA-WS moving away from competition to recreation

I think the below SkiFly post was an email from the USA Waterski Executive Director to the insiders. In classic SkiFly style it is now public. Maybe it was meant to be posted on SkiFly but . . .  If it was for us all to see or not, it is interesting.

    A no-brainer move really...they need to go back to the drawing board in areas of marketing, promotion, tournament format, scheduling, etc.

    Are they really moving away from competition (I seriously doubt it) or are they finally waking up and trying to broden their appeal in addition to what they're doing now?  I applaude any movement in that direction, it's far too long past due.
